Cemetery Survey by:
Ethel Brann Tillman
Survey Date: March 20, 2004. Added grave of Daniel T. Martin on June 14, 2007.

Originally known as the Yarbrough Graveyard on the left of the driveway and as the Clayton Graveyard on the right of the driveway.

Reference found in a deed to Mr. Henry Brann when he acquired the property on March 16, 1922…(It is understood that the two graveyards known as the Yarbrough Grave Yard and the Clayton Grave Yard are hereby reserved, each of said grave yards containing one half acre of land.)

Tips on reading the inscription listings:

  • Comments or added information is in parentheses ( ). Information not in parentheses is from a stone.
  • A slash ( / ) usually designates a new line on the stone.

Yarboro Graveyard (on left of driveway)

Notes:

  • Although there are three different spellings: Yarboro, Yarbrough & Yarborough, they are all the same family.
  • The site of graves for James Madison Yarborough, Sr. ( 1798 – 1893) and wife Margaret ( 1803 –1898 )have not been documented. Based on extensive research, it is the belief of the surveyor, Ethel Brann Tillman, that their graves are located in this cemetery. James Madison owned this property at the time of his death.
