A Deed of Gift To all people to who these presents shall come I Woody Brooks of Person County and State of North Carolina, send greeting Know ye that I the said Woody Brooks for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my beloved children Frances Brooks John James Brooks, and Wiley Brooks, and for ________ other good causes & considerations me hereunto moving hath given and granted & by these presents doth give & grant unto my dutiful daughter Frances Brooks two feather Beds & furniture one bed sted one pine chest & Three head of cattle I give unto my dutiful son John James Brooks one sorrel horse one feather bed & four head of cattle-Bedsted & furniture to go with said bed- I give unto my dutiful son Wiley Brooks one sorrel horse calld Ruby one yoak and oxens & an ______ Two feather beds & furniture one bedsted & the balance of my house hold and kitchen furniture I also give unto my said children one Negro Woman slave by the name of Patty to be eaqually divided amongst them thereselves & my stock of Hogs also- I also give unto my said three children Frances Brooks John James Brooks and Wiley Brooks all my wright & title to the tract of land whereon I live Five Hundred & eighty five acres or thereabouts to have hold & enjoy all & singular the said goods & chattels Lands & Tenements unto the said Frances Books John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns to ______ only proper use and ______ of them the said Frances Brooks John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns for ever and I the said Woody Brooks all & singular the aforesaid goods & chattels Lands & Tenements to the said Frances Brooks John James Brooks & Wiley Brooks their executors administrators and assigns against all persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents in witness my hand & seal But it is to be Strictly understood that this deed & gift is not to defraud my just writers that the aforesaid Francis Brooks John J Brooks & Wiley Brooks are ours of the said property to discharge & pay my just debts now owing March 22, 1806 His Signed Sealed & delivered Person Count June Term 1806
