Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery |
Location: Bethany Church Road (SR 1715) Directions: From Roxboro on 501S to left on Helena/Moriah Road (SR 1715) to Moriah. Straight across at SR 1721 on Bethany Church Road. 2/10ths mile Survey: Sept 2004 by Ken Dalton and Becky Farlow GPS: 36 15 25.3 N 078 49 30.5 W This is a large cemetery. As a result the graves have been designated with a location code to allow a specific grave to be located. The cemetery is located on both sides of the highway. That 1/5 of the cemetery that is on the same side of the highway as the church is called Section "A". Standing with ones back to church, facing section A, A1 is farthest to left on the row closest to church. (All sections will start with left end of row closest to church.) A loop drive passes through the other parts of the cemetery. That area inside the drive loop is Section "B" There are no burials "below" the loop. Outside the loop, parallel to highway is Section "C" The area beyond section C which forms a square that just touches the farther arm of loop is Section "D" The area beyond farther arm of loop and highway is Section "E" NOTE: Surnames have been capitalized and the following list is alphabetized by surname although within surnames an effort has been made to keep husbands and wives and families together. Given names are not alphabetized. The abbreviation "fs" designates foot stones.
