| Location: Hicks Yarborough Road (SR 1544) Directions: From Roxboro, take old Allensville Road (SR 1717) to left on Hicks Yarborough Road. Cemetery is near road in field on right Access: Near road, easy access when crops aren’t planted around it. Survey: Mar 2005 by Ken Dalton and Becky Farlow GPS: 36 22 57.2 N 078 56 03.9 W This cemetery was included in the WPA survey of cemeteries. It is included as #3 in the WPA survey list that is a part of this web site. This small cemetery is unusual in the degree of protection provided the graves. The cemetery is surrounded by railroad rails welded together. Graves: 1 - David ALLEN / Who was born / Jun 16, 1746 / Died Sept 16, 1828 / Aged 82 Yrs 3 Mos / This stone is erected to his / memory by his youngest son WLA 2 - Catharine ALLEN / Who was born / Jul 31, 1752 / Died 12th Sept 1832 / Aged 80 Yrs / 1 Mo and 12 Days / She was an affectionate wife and / a kind and indulgent mother / This stone is erected to her / memory by her youngest son WLA 3 - Infant (no other info) |
