Last updated on 30 August 2006 The table below is a collection
of citations for books and pamphlets that pertain to Person County and Person County
people. Some of these sources are well known (such as the Heritage of Person County books)
while others may be difficult to locate. If you have problems locating these sources, send
me an email and I will make suggestions.
I have collected these citations from a number of places. Many of these resources I
have not examined but they have been included here because I think they may be useful to
some researchers. My goal is to include here an exhaustive list of Person County source
material in the hope that you will find a reference here that you have not seen elsewhere
and that references here will be useful to you in your research.

Boswell, Ron. The Blessing of Beulah, A
History of the Beulah Baptist Association of North Carolina. 1984. 240 pages. This
book provides useful histories of the "missionary" Baptist churches in Person
and Caswell Counties. Chapter titles are: The Background of Beulah (70 AD - 1800), The
Beginning of Beulah (1800 - 1834), The Blossoming of Beulah (1834 - 1984), The Beliefs of
Beulah (theology), The Bounty of Beulah (church histories), and The Best of Beulah
(biographies). Today the member churches of the Beulah Baptist Church are members of the
Southern Baptist Convention. In general, however, the roots of the older of these churches
are in the Primitive Baptist faith. This background and the transition of these Person
County Baptist Churches away from the Primitive Baptist faith is addressed in the book. No
