Stephen Moore Cemetery
Location: 4319 Surl-Mt Tirzah Road
Directions:
From Roxboro, take 501S to Timberlake. Turn left on Helena-Moriah Road (SR1715) then left on Surl-Mt Tirzah Road (SR1717). Cemetery is on right.
Access:
Cemetery is behind the Ben Reade house. The driveway is protected by an electronic gate and prior permission MUST be obtained before visiting cemetery.

(A stone such as this one is problamatic for use as proof that the graves are actually present near the stone. Typically a stone such as this one was placed by the family many years after some of the burials occured and portions of the information included may be have based on oral family history. Note that the earliest death shown on this stone was in 1857, the latest in 1930. As an example of the problem here, lacking specific proof, it is unlikely that the body of Portius Aurelius was returned to Person County from Petersburg. This note is included as a caution to researchers.)
